Well, hot damn,
if I’m not writing the final check
to the bank to make this old house
mine for real.
And all I can think of is,
Did you ever think you’d see this?
No, you did not, leaving the party
early, as you did, which I know
was not how you wanted it.
But look, sweetie. We did it.
Took me a few more minutes
than I thought, but now,
as I walk through our house—
where some nights I still awaken
to the soft pad of your footsteps
in the hall and the jingle of Buddy’s tags
on his blue collar—
I whisper into the dark,
knowing how close you are,
how thin the veil between
my side and yours,
thank you, I love you,
yipppeeeeeee!

Oh, Jan….how lovely to start my day with your beautiful face and your happy news. Blessings on YOUR home.
XO Susie
Thanks so much, Susie!
Wow! What a lovely parting gift! So glad to see you smiling on your porch.
Thank you!
Congratulations! That’s huge. Our home is paid off, too. I love that feeling.
Thanks, Amrita!
Congratulations on a goal done. Quite an accomplishment.
Thanks, Sharon! It feels great!
Yipeeeeeee! Congratulations! Woot woot! It’s a great feeling, isn’t it?!
It so is a great feeling! Thanks, DG!
Congratulations! How fun for you! Now you can continue paying for all the things that need repair, but at least you have a little more cash to handle them. Being a home owner has it’s challenges, but also soooooo much JOY! Love the picture and you! ~Connie
Thank you, Connie! Here’s to all the joy… which I’m fortunate to have so much of in this old house!
I miss both Cliff and Buddy. The 3 of you are forever ingrained in my house-sitting memories from many, many years ago! Congrats on the house; you deserve a stress-free retirement (sort of)!
Thanks, Neil! We appreciate (then and now) all your help and love that you have showered on this old house!
