When I don’t know where to start in my own writing, I’ll begin with something like:
• “The thing is…” or “Here’s the thing…”
• What I want (or need) to say is…
• If I had it to do over…
• What happened was… (thank you to the late Bob Young of Honolulu, who began so many of his anecdotes that way!)
• When I woke up today…
• It comes to this… (which is the title of one of my poems in the Poems section of this blog)
• So what? or Why not? (or both! from Dick Schmidt)
