Spring rising

We the multitude rising with spring.
—Kim Stafford

Eager for spring, we have leapt
across an hour as the equinox
approaches in five days.

Consumed by so much of humanity’s
turmoil, we cannot help but brighten
under March sunshine,

warmer days and, at the grocery
store, beguiled by long green pencil
stems of yellow-tipped daffodils

begging to be brought home and
put in a pink vase. Look at them:
eager to unfold, golden petal by petal,

a bright tutu circles the first frilly
emerging ballerina. Watch her rise
en pointe, ready to twirl into this

glorious spring, amid soft wind
and birdsong, she and her troupe
of merry dancers joining in,

each nodding and beaming at
their admirers, all of us captivated
by such an exuberant display.

Lovely flower arrangement, Jan! As a suggestion, I would move the center lower daffodil a little to the left and perhaps trim the stems of the outer daffodils to make them all closer to the same length. However, if you choose not to do that, I would move the taller ones to the center and make the shorter ones hugging the edge of the vase. It’s just a personal choice! I love Daffodils and, as you say, they bring joy wherever they abide and put at “Spring” in your step! Just kidding you a bit. Remember. . . .”Flowers are Always appropriate!” ~Connie

Great suggestions, Connie! I gave this bunch away, so i’m not sure what the recipient chose to do with them… but I’ll remember this for future arrangements! Dick and I quote you all the time you know: “Flowers are ALWAYS appropriate!”
